Dr. John Mizukawa originally comes from Maryland, right outside of our nation’s capital. During his undergraduate studies, he spent 2 years serving as a missionary for his church in eastern Spain, allowing him to be proficient in Spanish. He earned a bachelor’s degree in zoology in 2005, and subsequently earned a master’s degree in physiology and developmental biology in 2009, both from Brigham Young University. He went on to earn his doctorate of dental surgery from the University of Southern California in 2013. Dr. Mizukawa then completed his training in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. Having lived all across the country, he realized there is no place quite like the Volunteer State, and decided to join the Oral Surgery Specialists of Tennessee in July 2017.
Dr. Mizukawa practices a broad scope of oral surgery procedures, including wisdom teeth removal, other surgical tooth extractions, dental implant placement, hard and soft grafting, corrective jaw surgery, and much more. He is dedicated to providing compassionate competent care for his patients by staying up to date with the latest research, techniques, and technology the field has to offer.
Outside of work, Dr. Mizukawa adores his wife Marcy and daughter Elise, and loves spending time with them. Together, they enjoy exploring the outdoors of Tennessee and finding new local places to eat. They are active participating members of their local church.
